Fourth-quarter sales (April-June 2001) were recorded at EUR 8.7m, an increase of 19% with respect to the third quarter (EUR 7.3m), and an increase of 78% on the fourth quarter of 1999/00 (EUR 4.9m).
The breakdown of full-year sales between the three business areas attests to the strength of Business & Decision's market position. E-business (internet projects, intranets and extranets for large corporations and SMEs) accounted for 27% of consolidated sales, and achieved the strongest growth. Business intelligence contributed 42% of sales and CRM the remaining 31%.
Business growth internationally, and extension to the French territory
The international business grew substantially, and accounted for 13.5% of consolidated sales. This business includes the Swiss and Spanish subsidiaries (set up in March 2000 and December 2000 respectively) and the Moses joint-venture (set up in Belgium in February 2001 with BBDO-Omnicom). Business & Decision maintained its expansion policy in France by opening up regional units which generated 18% of sales in 2000/01, as opposed to 15% in 1999/00.
The two acquisitions made in May 2001-Araxe and Norm@net, consolidated as of May 1 and June 1, 2001 respectively-contributed sales of EUR 0.2m. Subsidiaries created by Business & Decision-Business & Decision Espagne in December 2000, the Moses joint venture in February 2001 and Directory & Services in May 2001-generated sales of EUR 0.25m.
As of June 30, 2001, Business & Decision employed 461 people (staff of 284 as of June 30, 2000). The strength of Business & Decision's signature: its "project" operations accounted for 90% sales, thereby reinforcing the company's reputation as a leader in specific business projects ranging from consultancy to IT implementation.
Patrick Bensabat, Business & Decision's founder, chairman and CEO, made the following comments: "In each of our main markets, IT services companies and specialist firms have downgraded their growth targets. We are proud to have kept the promises we made to our shareholders."
Results for the 2000/01 financial year will be announced on Thursday September 20, 2001 (analyst information meeting).
